My work engages with Australia’s urban landscapes and residential neighbourhoods. These Victorian terraces are legacies of our colonial past and have seen many social changes over the century. From workers’ cottages and urban slums to high value real estate, their distinctive architectural features – wrought iron balconies, French doors, wooden windows, remain largely intact. Only the familiar green plastic bins with their bright red and yellow lids locate these homes in the present day, but we are left to imagine the identity of their contemporary occupants. Students, young professionals, long term residents or families?
