A fond illusion
In my painting practice I am interested in negotiating between the remembered experience of place and the physical records, such as drawings, paintings or photographs. These archives often don't equate with the complexity of our experience of place, understood through a moving body, over time and through the locus of memory, which changes and mutates over time. In A fond illusion, areas of the picture plane are interrupted by visual static, or information dropout, which embodies a kind of creative remembering, or equally, a creative forgetting.
