I Listen To The Wind
This painting is the result of an experience known as Deep Listening or Dadirri (to the original owners of the Daly River region in the NT.)You just simply sit and be silent and look and listen to the environment that surrounds you. It is a time to contemplate the sound of a bird, the wind, a cloud, where the light catches some leaves. To express the experience of this still quiet listening I drew then painted the water and twisted melaleuca trees . I was grateful to be able to create this work on Bunurong land.
