The 2023 Hawkesbury Art Prize is a non-acquisitive award of $10,000 plus a 2-week artist residency in the Hawkesbury. The art prize is for a painting, drawing or work on paper that is inspired by contemporary Australian identity. It has been set up as a not-for-profit project administered by the Hawkesbury Art Prize committee in association with Purple Noon Gallery, Glenhuntly Estate, the Pieter Huveneers Bequest and Bendigo Bank. An additional prize of $1,000 plus artist residency for ‘Highly Commended’, and also another $1,000 Highly Commended awarded to a local resident. A ‘Packers Prize’ is also awarded. Three judges will select the award winners. The aim of the Hawkesbury Art Prize is to promote art both locally and nationally and increase awareness of art and cultural activity to the mutual benefit of the community, artists and students.  Profits establish scholarships for talented and deserving young artists. The art prize is now a biennial event. Further details can be found on www.hawkesburyartprize.com.au
