Culburra Beach is a small town on the NSW south coast. I have returned to it for many years and sought out the old fibro and weatherboard houses, photographing and drawing them in chalky pastel pencils. I like the scale of the old buildings, their colours and the expansive lawns that contain them. Some change with new coats of paint, but any are disappearing completely including this fabulous house. Set against the huge sky and horizon, with two enormous pine trees, it was a local landmark. I thought it would always be there. Sadly, both the house and the tree in the front yard are gone.
