These paintings are made up of many experimental layers, not trying to push the works into any particular style or colour palette, just plodding along and making a mess. Somehow the paintings morph into loose abstract landscapes, inspired by bushwalks and childhood holidays on the South Coast. Fond memories of being old enough to wander off by myself for a short walk to the wreck and back, letting my imagination take off a la Picnic at Hanging Rock. Opportunities for walking in the bush in white lace are limited at the moment, especially living in the inner city and with three kids in tow. But it’s still there in my memory and as it turns out, in my painting.
