The Rusting of History

I depict the dilapidated pipes of Cockatoo Island, a site once alive with industrial activity that has now become an abandoned tourist site. This transformation embodies the paradox of modernization, where historical sites are often commodified and stripped of their original context to serve contemporary leisure and consumption. The rusting pipes stand as symbols of resilience in decay, yet they also reflect how capitalist strategies prioritise profit and progress over the preservation of cultural or personal heritage.
