This painting is a monochromatic representation of a rock formation at Stanwell Park where I have often holidayed. The black and white treatment and gestural marks conjure a historicised way of looking and creating an image. This process gets closer to the effort and emotion of trying to capture a fleeting memory and creating a monument out of my personal engagement with the natural environment.
