For the past 4 year in the Hawkesbury we have had a significant amount of raināfalling soft, falling hard, falling always. The soil beneath the gumtrees in our bushland backyard has loosened, relinquishing its grip as these gentle giants give way. As I look out my studio windows I am witness to this quiet theatre of transformation.. a continual balancing act of endurance and erosion, fragility and permanence. Fallen trees become home for native animals and provide firewood to warm our house and so the cycle goes on.
My favourite time to paint is in the early morning during Winter where I become witness to the drama of mist and drizzle silently moving through trees both fallen and standing.
